Stenciled Grain Sack Pillows

Found some vintage European grain sacks at a junk shop recently. They were just begging to become pillows. Pretty easy sew, but to make them more personal I stenciled numbers with latex paint.

Have a look....
Finished Grain Sack pillow on the black denim sofa with the bandana pillows from last month.
This is the huge 4 foot deep European grain sack I found at the junk store
20 inch square pillow case with the bottom 10 inches left unsewn for craming the down insert into.
I applied a light spritz of spray adhesive to hold my stencil in place, then rolled it down with a rolling pin.
I stippled red latex paint over the stencil, Stippling means that i "dotted" the paint straight down lightly...using as little paint as possible. I kept adding light layers of paint.
Carefully peeled up the stencil after the paint had dried for about an hour
Number 5 grain sack pillow on the sofa.
Close-up of the 87 on my grain sack pillow.

Thanks Amber, I love junk, and any project that only costs a few bucks....

I guess if you are not lucky enough to score some grain sacks you could use painters drop sheets and stencil those instead. They look good!
