Countertops

Has anyone tried the granite surface that bonds over the existing countertop? A granite overlay so to speak.

I assume your speaking of Granite Transformations? There has been several questions about this product within the site. Overall is that it is an ok product, but the quality is really based upon the quality of the franchise that is installing it. Also the cost of this product is not to much further away from lower end granite installs. So you may want to reconsider it.

In any case, it is an ok product, with just about as many complaints as there are good comments about it.

Hi Martina, here is one of those posts that Woodbridge mentions. You can find more by doing a search for "granite overlay." http://www.hometalk.com/78878/looking-to-red...

I looked into Granite Transformation when I was redoing my kitchen. The price was actually higher than going with real granite and the choices are more limited since granite is a natural product. I am happy with my choice of going with granite. Good luck!

I had a client last year that hired me to finish out her kitchen and she had already paid for Granite Transformations to come in. When I looked a the bid I was stunned at the cost. It was higher than the real deal.

I have done lots of "large granite tile" installs ....these are the true cost savers. If you are handy you can even DIY these.
