that is an interesting fact. Seems like the would get very lonely, wonder what there purpose in life is? I dont want to sound sarcasrtic, I was just wondering.
I don't know....they fight if you put them in pairs...but I think they do okay with other types of fish...If I find a bigger bowl...I'm gonna get him a friend! =]
i had one in with my gold fish and he lived for years. but like you tammy i purchased one in a cup sized plastic container with a plastic lid with a slit it in for air. they all looked like they were gonna go belly up any minute. i think it's a great idea. he looks happy enough
Hey Tammy! That's just tooooo funny that this conversation is still going after all this time. However, I was thinking a couple of days ago about your fish (does he have a name???) and wondered just how the lil fellow was doing?? You know you'd simply have to lie if he goes belly up and say "OH, he's doing just fine!! Thank you very much!!! LOL The poor activists would never get over it if he kicked off would they?
I love this idea!!!!!.... I have had fish all of my life. Worked in a pet store for many years.... You put this fish is any other fish with a "fancy" tail and it will kill it. They do best alone. Back to the bowl did you drill a whole in the top to feed him? or are you unscrewing the screws every time? I think this would be great by my mantel. But I know I would drop that bulb trying to feed him LOL
@Carroll A - waaaay back up there somewhere that was one of the first inquiries. Short answer, there is a hole for dropping in food and ventilation! He ain't starving nor gasping for air!! LOL Yeah - the lil beta's are itty bitty fishies w/a great big attitude. DOES NOT PLAY WELL W/OTHERS!! lol
Yes...at the top of the light where the wires came out. But...you could unscrew it too! Thanks Susan...I'm so glad you've got my back!!!! Gotta love friends!!!!
I started thinking maybe I was "stealing your thunder" by answering, but I was here so I just chimed in! b'sides - you is part of my family, so YES, I do have your back, when and if needed!! lol
I still love this valuable idea! When male beta's 'bubble' they are building what they consider viable real estate for females. That means he's comfortable enough with his 'offering' to her. I've had betas in so many freaky, weird and 'green' environments that I've forgotten. Let's not forget why we are so fascinated with these great little fish in the first place!
Besides....I'm pretty sure you have a bunch of electricity all on your own!
