Microbath makeover

We recently remodeled a very small "microbath" in an older home. This included a full gut of the space. Due to the door swing constraints, we opted to install a Rohl "Allia" wall mount hand sink. It turned out really nice with the wallpaper and fixtures.

This is so completely adorable. Did you have to re-plumb for the sink?

I just dressed up my guest full bath.

For those who ARE wallpaper fans, this may be my favorite detail of the whole bath. The paperhanger covered the HVAC register (while uninstalled) and I was blown away by her precision!

Barbara, I also have textured walls.. I am slowly skimming them to smooth them out so that I can paint them. I'm afraid no matter how good a job I do the wall paper might show even the slightest imperfection.

The wall paper is beautiful, BUT it is too busy for the small space, I can see you painting over it within the year. Yes you can paint wall paper! I have done it with great results!

I agree just way to busy for me and nothing in the room fits the room between the walls and the floors just to much for a tiny room.

Nancy, yes we did modify the plumbing so the water supplies and shutoffs would be concealed. Ellen, you are correct in the skim coating. We had one wall which we left intact, and skimmed it smooth. Otherwise the plaster texture will show for sure!

An small antique dresser would have looked better for the sink to fit in and dark brushed metal for faucet and handles...love the wallpsper tho and floor. I pained the ceiling in my guest bath with an orange/red Color to go with the Spanish tile floor and every one loved it. Like you I am not afraid of color

If one were to be spending some time in this room, I would say it is too busy. However, the chances are that you'll be going in, attending to nature, washing your hands, glancing in the mirror and leaving. So, the punch of the wallpaper and floor is a welcome little kick! I would have liked to have seen curtains put around the sink down to the floor as was often done in older homes. The plumbing would have been covered and it would be an excellent spot to store the extra rolls of TP. All in all, a great little powder room!

A powder room is just the place to be bold - this really works! After all, you won't be spending a lot of time in there - if you are, that's another whole issue!!

We are having a hard time finding a place for a powder room in our 1910 home. Does anyone know if there is are standard minimum dimensions for a room with only a toilet and sink? We might have to wall in a corner of a large bedroom and install a door to open into a hall. I want it large enough to be comfy, but no larger than necessary. thanks!

looks very nice. it really doesn't look too small. gets the job done ,right! Every space doesn't have to be huge, and be over done.

This is a beautiful room. I love the wall paper and the detail you mentioned on the AC grate....little details like that is what QUALITY is all about. I also agree that wallpaper should make a comeback....it can be so interesting. Nice job.

I love every inch of this room. I am sure there are two more walls in this room. The bath I am doing is so small but I have an antique table across the way which holds a roll of special toilet tissue, air freshener, and a pretty guest towel - a place for guest to lay their stuff down that they will be using. The room could not be prettier. You have used quality fixtures installed with perfection so what else can be said? Whether it is your house or done to someone else's expression, ...»
you did a super fine job. This bath caught my eye immediately and will be pleasing to the eyes of many others. Wish you could have done my botched up small bath that is still waiting to be finished. Thank you so very much for sharing.

I love the lamp on the side wall of mirror rather than above to blind one's eye. There is nothing like professionalism and good taste and you have it all. The oriental look to the paper gives the room some classic pazazz.
