I took a piece of glass and turned it into a beautiful peacock with the help of Unicorn SPiT! I did it over the course of one weekend and it was very easy to do.
I got a free picture frame from work that has been sitting in my garage for months. I have been wanting to do something that resembles stained glass, but I could never find the right product... until I came across Unicorn SPiT!
I had done a rough sketch on a post-it note at work, so when I got home, it was time to put it to glass. I used a ruler to do the straight lines. The rest of the peacock was free-handed. I used a Sharpie to draw on top of the glass.
After I had the outline I wanted, I took the liquid leading and went over the Sharpie lines. It does take some time and patience for this part.
Once the liquid leading had dried some (I set it out in the hot Georgia sun for about an hour), I flipped it over and got to the good stuff: the SPiTTING!!!
I started out with just using the SPiT straight from the bottle. I put a little bit on my paintbrush and went to town. After I had finished painting, I really did not like the tail, so since SPiT is water based, I sprayed some water on and wiped off the tail! So easy! I decided to put down some Mod Podge first, and then I re-did the tail. It turned out much better with the base down.
These are the colors I used: Phoenix Fire, Blue Thunder, White Ning, Dragon's Belly, Zia Teal, and Pixie Punk Pink (from left to right in photo). Unicorn SPiT is the most versatile and easy to use gel stain. It can be used as paint on glass, plastic, ceramic, wood, pretty much anything! It is a beautiful vibrant stain on furniture and wood as well. It is water based, so if you make a mistake, it's easy to fix. You can use any oil based sealer on it, so the choices are plentiful. It is super easy to blend and mix together, too! While I did not dilute it for this project, it can be diluted up to 50%, so a little can go a very long way!
And now the (almost) finished project! This is the front of the glass that I used the liquid leading on. The Unicorn SPiT is so vibrant and beautiful! It dries to a chalky finish, but once sealed, it is glossy and vibrant again. I used Minwax Clear Aerosol Lacquer to seal it with.
Here is the back side, the side on which I painted. I did not like it without having defined lines, so I just went over the lines with Sharpie. I actually kind of like this side more! I think it turned out beautifully and I know I could not have gotten the same results without my SPiT, believe me, I have tried!
