I also read that if you put dryer sheets in your pockets it will keep mosquitoes at bay. If the problem is mosquitoes, at least everyone will smell like Downey.

That depends on the type of insect and how much work you want to do. For flying critters the old bug zappersa place away from the party in the yard and citronella candles can help. If you have standing water near by you cant get altocid dunks ( we call them donuts because thats what they look like place them in the water before the party at least 5-7 days ahead ane they will kill mosquito larvae. Trim all low hanging trees and bushes thats where mosquito hang out. A chemical and granular applicatyion a day before the party can help I would use Talstar EZ granules and Tempirid or Bifenthrin. Read the label and wear long sleeves gogggles and hat andgloves and spray with the wind and not on a blustery day. To get more specific I need more details. ( pest type, what the environment is around you, condusive areas around the home.
