Here's our latest concrete project from our creative director, Lisa Kettell. She couldn't resist making diamond and gem concrete push pins using our Makers Mix Concrete. These were created for our office inspiration board.
Let's get started. Here are a list of supplies that you will need to make your own..
We used our push pins on our inspire board!
Mix one cup of Makers Mix with 5 1/2 Tablespoons of water in a medium sized plastic bowl, until well blended. It should be the consistency of brownie batter.
Mix the Makers Mix Concrete
Fill the gem molds with the concrete, let set for at least an hour. If you have any extra concrete left over fill the remainder into another mold so you don’t waste it. Let all pieces completely dry for 12 hours, preferably 24 hours before painting.
Fill Gem mold w/Makers Mix Concrete. Let Dry
Apply a coat of acrylic paint to the gems, let dry.
Flip the gems over and glue the clear push pin to the back of the painted gem using power tac. Let dry.
Start jazzing up your office cork board with your new colored concrete gems. Try adding gold gilding, gold leaf or rub on gold to the gems for more pizzazz. Even some chunky rhinestones or name initials would work.
Note: Our Maker's Mix DIY Concrete, Pigments and Molds are available at Joann's Stores, Our Website and Our Etsy Store. Followed by additional craft and hobby stores across the country coming soon. Any questions, please ask.
