Cement porch completely redone & what a transformation! Cement floor repainted, canvas drop cloths for curtains, bamboo light strings hung, landscaping finished. Check out the before and after!
We just moved here recently & the place had been empty & neglected for about 2 years. It was just begging for attention! I got new porch furniture for Mother's Day and a couple plants but this porch needed much more!
Took everything off the porch (including the son..lol)
It took 2 at around $35 each at Walmart to cover my little porch but it was worth it! My cement was so rough and in bad shape. This did a great job and it can be tinted to different colors.
Painted the porch posts, cleaned the cement with soapy water & painted it with Kilz Armor Cement/Deck Resurfacing paint. Yes, that's glass on the bird bath since the birds don't use it and mosquitoes are terrible here. No, I don't want to make it a planter but I do have different plans for it in the future.
Hung curtain rod & reinforced to ensure wind wouldn't harm it & hung 2 canvas drop cloths from Walmart ($10) each using curtain clip hangers. They were a little long but just folded over and there was no sewing needed. Bamboo string lights were on sale at Rural King for only around $6 & it took 4 sets.
Some plants added, landscape cloth & mulch...Voila! We love it! Here you can see it with the curtains down. Just use a clothes pin and the curtains stay shut even with a breeze.

Yes, that's glass on top of the bird bath because mosquitoes are terrible here. and the birds don't appreciate it enough to keep water in it. It's going to get an acid stain and I'm looking for the perfect decorative element to place on top.
We added a few plants inside the porch, a mosquito plant & I don't know if it really helps a whole lot but you bet we spend a lot of time out here now! We love it.

How long is the drying time between coats of paint and how long afterward do you have to wait to use the porch. Thinking about doing my garage floor. Looks great!
