Vertical garden made from old pool deck steps

Just put a back on the steps, flipped it upside down and attached to fence

This is the second fantastic vertical garden posted in the last two days. I can't wait until someone tells me they don't have room for a garden. I will show them your handiwork.

I should post my flower box made from old deck steps. I think this is fantastic, but am now looking for a way to keep the proper amount of soil in the box. Don't forget, you can use tarpaper to line the box and hold in moisture. (Yes, we reused extra tarpaper from the roofing of our storage room construction).

Nice, really like it.........I was thinking about putting a back of fencing with the ears on it and setting it behind a waterfalls and pond, put it right in the ground

Looks like a good place for a sedum garden. Don't need so much dirt and not so much watering. great repurposing.

Now that's recycling or is it downcycling?

I put a backing on the steps that should keep the dirt actually touching the fence

Great idea. This would work great as a privacy fence on the side of a deck. Thank you.

Another idea for steps...we nailed a five-step discarded stairway to a large oak in the front yard and this is whre my houseplants live each summer. They love it. Get the weather but not the direct sunlight and heat of the SC summers We stained the steps to match the picnic bench and the wheelchair ramp.

Micki M you have given me a great idea of how to cover the bottom of my deck with step-plantings. WOW! My deck sits about 4 feet off the ground and I think I will use this idea all around. Any ideas where to pick up old steps anyone?
