DIY Painted Sign from stock lumber

I needed a pretty big piece of artwork for a wall in my house. I wanted something colorful and inviting. Using two pieces of standard lumber I created an weathered, original, and one-of-a-kind sign for under $20. On my blog I give a full tutorial on how to create your own from distressing the wood to painting the text. http://www.inspiredbycharm.com/2012/01/from...

Sweet job there...amazing how some simple painting and sanding techniques can turn 10 bucks worth of lumber into a fine art piece.

It really adds to the country look. The pitchfork and aprons together remind me of The American Gothic painting. The bright colors and natural light give it a new twist and keep it from being depressing. Way to go Michael!

I LOVE this. The paint, the message, the simplicity. Perfect! I am pinning it to the Hometalk DIY Inspiration board.
