Gardening

I put in a raised bed.

The post are pressure treated 4 x 4's and the boards are untreated cedar that were used on another project. Now all I have to do is fill it.

    The post are set in concrete and leveled. The bottom row of boards are leveled and nailed to the post.

    The boards used are cedar. They came off a old pergola that fell down.

    I added extra 4 x 4 to the side due to the height.

    So jealous, Darby. Here, the ground is frozen and we can't do anything in the yard for at least three months. Good luck with planting. Doing great so far.

    Steve is "down in the flats"...I'm a month further behind at 8500 feet...

    We had 65 mph gusts last night...and its now in the teens. 65 degrees sounds pretty good for feb.

    That front is pretty tall...are you worried about is bowing out?

    would have put the chemical infested posts on the outside...this would reduce the chance of the fasteners pulling through the boards when then get older...and keep the toxins on the outside of the food growing area

    @KMS. The front is 6 feet wide and it is 3 feet tall. I set the post in concrete and will put some gravel in the bottom, That should stop it from bowing.( I hope) I agree with you on the post, I would have put them on the outside to make it stronger. But you know, what momma wants, momma gets. LOL

    @TaCora, I sure will.

    Darby how about those decorative post? I really think the load from the soil will push the 16-20 penny's out. What you have there is form work.

    I know momma wont like the ruff 4x4 but just try to save your self a headache.

    These pictures are to update the project. Mom decided that she wanted to steps in the beds. You can see we got if filled and it is going well.
    • Overall view of the garden.
    • Lower view. We decided to lower the top board and put steps in the bed to sepeate the vegetables.
    • Here you can see the steps better.
