Do you want to know what is the easiest to install on the slope or to preserve the view?

I would go with a nice chain link, so you could have REAL deep post for mudslides and safety, and can also can see through to enjoy the view!

Good suggestion, James. A Cedar or Redwood fence might be nice, if you're looking to have a nice 'finished' look, but for merely fencing off a dog pen, chain link would prove to work well and would leave your view unobstructed.

Fences have two primary roles...to keep things in or out...or to block unwanted views...aka Privacy fence...with a step slope I'm guessing your in the first group....because with a hill that steep you would need a 30 foot high fence to block the "view"...chainlink is cheaper and easier to install...for securtiy and smallish animal containment...for larger critters..like cattle two strands of barbed wire will do the tirick
