Preventing Furniture and TV Tip-Overs

TV tip-overs are on the rise in recent years and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging parents to protect their children by securing TVs. My two year old grandson is coming for a visit, so we did some child proofing.
These Quakehold steel cables were easy to install. It only took minutes.
We used Kidco TV straps to strap the TV to the stand and then the stand was secured to the wall.
A friend of my daughter lost her little one for a furniture tip-over. You can visit www.meghanshope.org to read her story and get more tips.

Those precious little ones are so worth the time and trouble it takes to secure furniture. Your friends daughter would have been our oldest grandson's age now. So heart breaking.
  • You are so right, Becky. I am hearing more and more of TV tip-overs on the news.

@Mary I just read the story of this darling little girl a few minutes ago, I had left the page open last night, of how her Mom cradled her in her arms after she died. I couldn't read beyond that for the tears in my eyes. No mother should have to live through that. Ever! All furniture and electronics should come equipped with a system to secure them from falling over. This is the second story I read within the last couple weeks about a changing table style dresser falling on a child and it taking their precious young lives from them. Do you know if is there a group that is working to make that happen?
