My newest jewelry or candy (or whatever, tier) and cd hangers

Well , I just puttered with this tier, (it is the one with the sloppy glue and black marker). But I am sharing the cd's I decorated. I glued 2 together back to back, then glued gems (half marbles ) on both sides, burned a hole for a wire hanger, and I hang them outside where they can be glitzy. I have also glued mirror pieces to the cd's, and they are like disco balls flashing in my slider entry area. Fun!

Very creative. Also, am I the only person who still actually LISTENS to CDs. They don't sound as good as records, but they sound better than MP3s. I'm not ready to fully convert yet (I say as I listen to music on my computer).
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 22, 2012
Haha Too funny Steve. I like CD's also. However I bought an mp3 to play while i am in cardio rehab, and I don't know how to work the dumb thing! I have Abba, Billy Joel, some drums, some Japanese drums, anything with a good beat so I dont give up. But I had to download the instructions, into a pdf file. No hard copy unless I want to print everything out. What a Bore! So I dont know how to use the menu, and shuffle. The last 2 rehab hours I treadmilled to ABBa the whole time! Too lazy to look up the directions, and many times I dont understand them! Maybe I should have just gotten something like a walkman, if they still make them! Getting old is not for sissies! These discs are from when we used to get them in the mail. Remember that? Not so long ago. Havent gotten any in a very long time! But I kept them. and now they make nice shiny hanging things!

Does that mean the tape cassette system in my shop is outdated?
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 23, 2012
@KMS....No, not if YOU are not outdated! ha! I have several books on cassette..but the cars nowadays dont have cassette players on them! sheesh! And what can you do with old cassettes? They dont make pretty hangy things! So just keep on until they "are no more".All worn out, a memory. Enjoy! btw..can you even buy new music cassettes anymore?

Bernice H, You just gaqve me an idea of what to do with all the glassware I have collected. Just a hot glue gun?
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 23, 2012
Hi Melissa..no I have not used a hot glue gun for anything like this. I dont know if hot glue would be strong enugh, especially if someone tried to pick one of these up by the middle or the top. I used E6000, but I dont like it. I usually use clear silicone caulk. I have another thread with more "jewelry" tiers ..and glass globes that i glued half marbles,( gems), to, with silicone and it works better. E6000 dripped and didnt set up as fast as silicone clear. I do believe you can use hot glue for the cd's tho. They wont have any stress to them. I am now experimenting with different shapes to the tiers. I got the candlesticks at dollar tree. I just spent a small fortune on glassware at good will, yikes! So I have to get busy or hubs will say...yuup, here we go again! I would love to find colored glass ware. yum
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 23, 2012
@melissa again...So be sure to post what you have done!
  • Susan S Susan S on May 23, 2012
@Melissa K. - hot glue won't hold permanently on smooth surfaces, Eventually they'll come apart and all you'll have to do is peel the glue off!! Go w/the clear silicone!! @Bernice - you're playing with the pretty shiny things again aren't you!! LOL The tiers are really pretty and I like the different shapes you've used - they complement each other very well. Nice work, as ALWAYS!!! OH, and I like the puddy tats in the background too!! Oh #2. and the CD's - now I can see those hung from some tree branches (using fishing line so it looks like they're just dangling in mid-air) w/all the pretty shiny stones. Hummmm - bowling balls, cd's, what's next????

Thanks susan..I dont know what's next, any ideas? I have a cabinet full of dishes now, they gotta be done something with or I'm gonna hear it! I spent 60 dollars at Goodwill, then another 15 at Dollar tree for candlesticks etc.. I get carried away. But I found some really neat dishes at GW 1/2 price so only paid 2 for each one, so of course I got quite a few. whew! They will be the bottom plates, they have dividers on them, like for finger food type dishes. I am more of a copier than innovative, so any suggestions? OH... good to knwo about the hot glue. thanks. OH, glad you like my kitty stuff. I had to downsize on a lot of it, then I find new other stuff! The teapot was a gift just the other day! I love it.

Oh I just hung one of the cd's from my little tree. The others blew down this winter, so now new ones go up, they really do add a little bling !
  • Susan S Susan S on May 23, 2012
I think you're doing just fine on your own w/the idea department!! And no fair changing your profile pic w/o warning. Another one of "my people" did this - twice as a matter of fact. It just confuses the heck outta me when y'all do that!!!
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 23, 2012
hahaha sorry! I just have to brag ..this is me in cardio rehab just before I graduated from my 36 sessions! I am still going 2x a week but it takes so much out of me, I lose the rest of the day. True I have new heart plumbing, but I am still not a spring chicken! And I have never worked this hard in exercise before, since I was 40. 29 years later...eekkk! Aren't Kms and Steve just too funny! Love their comments and input!

I'd pick up bits 'n pieces in other conversations and comments from you so I figured you'd had "something" done re: health related! Congratulations on getting thru 36 rehab sessions! Hope no one takes "rehab" out of context!! LOL Hey baby, you're just like fine wine, you're not getting older, you're getting BETTER!!! Oh, and it ain't braggin - you deserve to crow A LOT!! RE: KMS & STEVE - Oh there are quite a few descriptive adjectives I could use to describe them . . . . .let's see now . . . . no, no, no, I can't say THAT!!! Ummmm, how about witty, supportive, encouraging - not to mention really really SMART!!! There isn't anything KMS doesn't know a great deal about. That's just for starters - If I say too much more they're liable to suffer from inflated ego syndrome!! ;~)

What a clever way to stack the glass! Your garden pix are wonderful as well. Keep on truckin' on Bernice. Cardio rehab is tough but it sure beats the alternative, I know. My first (only, so far) HA was 2 yrs ago and I'm only 50. Follow the docs advice but don't stop making beautiful things.
  • Bernice H Bernice H on May 26, 2012
Oh boy Kelly...I had my first 3 bypass at 51,it occluded within 2 months, that was devastating. All that agony recuperating . However 17 years later I found a Dr who said, this is not a big deal and took care of me with 4 bypass, using the mammary arteries and right arm artery, instead of leg veins as in the first one. So I am doing more than I have in many a year, but I thought I would be 40 again! hahaha NOT! Did you do rehab, and are you still exercising? Take care of yourself. The message they kept giving us in class before exercise time, was, if you do cardio excercise now, even if you have another "event" you will be in a much better place to survive and recover! Put that on your refrig! Here's to you! @Susan..love those guys! Kevin got me considering vinyl planking, and I think we are about ready to go look. but I will have to pick their brains more first. And yes, the other day I thought about that, maybe rewording..rehab! At least put cardio before rehab, think?

@ KMS I still find 8 tracks at garage sales! I'm in the process of converting my old big vinyl and cassettes to CDs for my vehicle. Like Bernice said what to do with cassettes besides donating thenm to Goodwill?
  • Susan S Susan S on May 26, 2012
@Bernice - as to "rehab" explanation. Don't worry your heart over this!! I don't think anyone will misinterpret the meaning - at least not for long And if they do that's THEIR problem. You know what you mean and and so do the rest of who have been following the conversations!! Let 'em wonder!! LOL
  • Susan S Susan S on May 26, 2012
    @Steve - and what we have here is the "MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY"!! That's a good thing ;~}
