Painted flower pots for color!

When I decided to add color to my porch (earlier post) I painted old flow pots to match and put them on the front steps.

Love t his...but when I paint clay pots, the paint eventually peels. Stained them last time. What did you do first?

Use a bondable primer.... its pricey, but works great...... also called an adhesion primer

I don't know what they will do because this is the first time I have painted them. I used craft paint on some, but that became very laborious! So I then used Krylon 2X paint. If it peels, then they will be shabby chic next next year!

Besides giving you that extra color boost, painting the clay pots reduces the evaporation rate, since paint seals off the pores of the clay. You won't have to water them as often.
