trellis with planter boxes the I made for storm damaged branches.

I look for branches that are close to the same thickness, cut them to about 16-18 inches and first screw them together with wood screws then go over the screws with jute string. The overhead front of the trellis header has the word "welcome" that I made with sticks and short screws . The planter boxes are thick branches that I cut in half and nailed together so that the trellis will fit inside of them. I did use some 3 1/2" plastic pipes to slide the trellis into so it doesn't rot in the dirt. We had a tornado and I got to get all the branches I wanted and the trellises sell like crazy!

Now aren't YOU the clever one!!! I love this idea and you did a fantastic job. The wagon wheel bench is stationary, right?? At first I thought it was a swing and wondered just how much weight that trellis could support since the branches weren't exactly large. I get it now . . . . ;~)

Yes, the bench is stationary. But I am thinking about trying to make a bench to go with the trellis

You're VERY welcome. Just my humble opinion, but I rather like the contrast of the color of the existing bench with your trellis. Just sayin . . .

You gonna put some posies in those planters? I can see a mixture of something like the green spikes for a little height, something trailing down over the planters and some bright pops of red begonias or geraniums.

I really like this and would like to try it. Tell me, did you use any pine or was it all hardwoods? I have several felled pines on the rear of my property. I love the rustic-ness of this.

Thanks everyone! I have made several trellises using both hardwoods and pine. The pine needs longer screws and more ladder rungs or it will bend real soon. I found that out real fast. But the pine trellis is extremely beautiful! I'm sorry that I don't have a picture of it. They sell before I'm finished making one. On the one in the picture, is hardwood and I also put some polyveratane (?) on it to see if it will last longer.

I did my flowers in a red, white, and blue theme. Blue & white clamatis on one side and red & white on them other side. I like the green spike thing. I will have to try it.Oh yeah, the white clamatis in on the back side of both planters to bring out the red & blue in the front

My husband and I took a lesson from a man from Alaska a few years ago to make branch art.we made chairs from willow(swamp)benches etc. You have a good eye . we also make gates from red cedar on the property. I'm really liking what you have done.

What a smart way to recover from the mess of a tornado; clean up the damage and at the bank.
