Bee Balm - Monarda

I have a number of beds in my yard which is almost an acre. The bee in the front beds which are full sun 3rd and 4th year beds is not doing well at all this year, the blooms are skimpy, one bed got hit with chemical, the other 3 beds are showing signs of powdery mildew on the bee and problems on other plants. Where having weird weather. Anyhow, I walked to the back today which I consider my woodland area and this guy is standing tall and proud. Unreal right! It's a 2nd year bed, mostly shade with 3-4hrs of filtered sun and no irrigation. I'm using a German garden technique for all natural fertilizer and water reserves. This one is doing the best, I transplanted last year, this year I have 4 or 5 sprouts so I'm hoping there all gonna look like this.

Monarda can be very susceptible to powdery mildew. It's is definitely worth seeking out the resistant cultivars.
