Toothpick Craft

I have seen some of these Styrofoam and toothpick crafts...so I had to try it....but I wanted to change it up a little...
I started with a Styrofoam Ball. I cut it in half with a knife.
I used a whole box of toothpicks for this craft. You can use either the flat ends or double pointed ones. I used the double pointed ones. Start from the top and work around the ball till you get to the bottom. I started with the blue spray paint. I let it dry, then sprayed sideways to get just the tips. Tip: these balls look better with a darker color sprayed on it first. I had tried another with the silver first, but I didn't like the way the styrofoam looked. This is what I used:
If you get some silver on the styrofoam, just spray with your other color real close so you just get bottom of picks and styrofoam.
I think it looks so pretty, and matches the rug in my living room and all the mercury glass.this is a fun and easy craft. Great for kids too, as long as they use the flat toothpicks. Paint them coral color....reds...oranges...for sea urchins!

Hi, I tried this and the styrofoam broke. How did you put so many in and keep the styrofoam intact please?
