My Lake Superior Rock Collection
by

(IC: homeowner)
It all started last summer, when I began making a Christmas gift. a large, heavy, sturdy framed mirror that was just screaming for an upgrade. My husband and I vacation a lot in the U.P. of MI. where my heart long's to be 24/7. We are so in love with this region and hope to retire there someday. We suffer from "pretty rock syndrome" as the miles of beaches and the beauty of the North woods takes our breath away. and so we walk the shoreline for hours looking for precious Agates, and collect some pretty rocks along the way. Last summer, the idea began to form, and while on vacation,we filled a 5 gallon bucket with our pretty rocks, and brought them home.I hand picked and fitted each and every rock lovingly and carefully, hot gluing them to the wooden frames of these mirrors. I coated them with a high gloss shine that makes them appear as though they were just picked up from the wave washed shore. I gave the mirrors as gifts, and I am still getting comments from different ones who spot them. On the advice of my Pastor, and long time friend of my family,I began to rescue old items from garage sales, Good Will stores, resale shops, etc. and fixing them, and giving them Lake Superior face lifts. I began collecting pallet wood, making boxes and adding rocks. I have made bird feeders with the rescue wood and added the rocks. My new idea/dream... is to create an entire bedroom set; furniture, wall decor,lamps... the ideas are endless. So here is my collection, I hope you enjoy.
