Happy Birthday America

What says patriotism to you? This story says it for me. When I was growing up I can recall the farm strike. I didn't know what it meant back then....but years later it means so much....and apparently did to my father-in-law too.
The American Flag that flew on my Father-in-law's tractor during the tractorcade
The Texas Flag that flew on my father-in-law's tractor.
American Ag Movement flag from the farm strike in the late 70s'
What I did with this trio of flags...Nothing says patriotism more to me than this story!

Tammy, this brings back memories for me as well. I was a member of the police department that protected the National Mall from those tractors by ensuring that the buses that were used as barriers to surround the Mall remained in place. I don't recall any disturbances where any tractor tried to move a bus or any such thing to access the Mall. If I recall, it was to protect the lawn (a great big expanse) and probably to send a message that they weren't going to 'take the hill.' I believe the tractorcade made both sides take a good long hard look at the issues in agriculture. Negotiations went smoothly, didn't they? That was many moons ago, and my memory might be a bit faulty. I love what you did with the flags. I'm originally from Texas, and proudly have a flag that was flown over the state capitol on my birthday.
