How can I make a landscape feature from a hole from a collapsed pool?

I have an 8-ft deep semi-circular hole where the deep end of our above-ground pool used to be. The pool collapsed one night and the semi-circular pond is all that's left. We have taken down the surrounding decking except for a raised area at the end opposite the house.

If the area is filled in I would start by creating a relaxing sitting area.Use a fire pit and garden artifacts along with some plantings.

There are so many options with this much now usable space :-) I'd google landscaping ideas (or more importantly images of such) and see what tickles your fancy. Then start making the plan that'll work for you. We don't know your budget so it's hard to advise what to suggest. But oh boy, it could be a lot of fun to help design the space :-)

I have no budget... Sigh. I am wavering between filling it in and building a koi pond. I will let you know.

Maybe think of doing something like this - not my project - think it's a hanging swing fire pit

Buy a rigid liner and install a pond there instead. Depending on the size and shape, you may have to fill in around the sides and perhaps some of the bottom. See my post on Hometalk for the DIY on how to add some zen to your back garden with a water feature: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/pools-ponds/add-some-zen-to-your-back-garden-with-a-water-feature-17387793
