Patio table "lazy susan'

I purchased a large plastic light cover from a garage sale and covered it with glass beads and grout. It had a center hole in the middle perfect for a patio umbrella for my table and I placed it on an old lazy susan roller. It works perfect for picnics or to have the glow of candles in the eve. She is over 5 years old now, could use a fresh coat of grout, but she still shines in this hot Florida weather.

@KMS so true, but was she really lazy or just ahead of her time?

What a beautiful way to transform the ordinary into extraordinary!

very nice. what did you use to glue the beads to the plastic before grouting?

Can u explain to a rookie how you did this? Did you glue on beads and then fill in between with grout? I LOVE this!

I used craft glue, a friend told me to use a glue gun, i chose not to, then after round and round of beads i grouted with a sand grout. I have had one or two fall off, at edge easy to put back on, first time using grout.

I have found in Florida if you use a glue gun, the results do not turn out well. The heat melts the glue and everything falls apart.

I am doing a patio table with glass beads: long beads are petals; lg. round beads are flower centers, & sm. beads to fill in. Rather than grouting, I think I will pour clear acryllic over it

thanks for the tips! I see what you mean about the glue gun melting. I wonder if an outdoor calking like for windows etc would work. or something like Liquid Nails brand adhesive? As they are ment to hold up on the outside of houses.

That is a great thought, I wanted a clear dry clue since this was a see through plastic, but my cement birdbath that I am beading for my granddaughters fairy garden I will try the calking, Some of the older beads are coming off. Thanks

@Debbie..how are you doing on your birdbath? this is lovely and fun! Nice choice of colors.

I use clear silicone caulking or E6000 for my gluing of beads and 1/2 marbles. But another poster uses Goop, so i will try that also. I put half marbles on bowling balls and they were outside for several years in winter, summer etc. Just fine until they eventually got tired. I dont grout tho, I space them real close so I dont have to. ha

Fairy garden is in place, beading needs work. Hope to get to it soon. Thanks for asking.
