I no longer want my compost bin but don't know what to do with it.

Question

I've posted it on various sites to see if an avid gardener might want it but so far, no one does. I haven't taken good care of it. I used to turn it a bit but haven't in AGES but I'd bet the container is at least half full of good compost. I just want it gone. If anyone in the Atlanta area sees this and wants it, it's yours.

Every large city has a Freecycle website ... look up Atlanta freecycle and select the right one based on where you live. It's free, you just have to register and then you can post things for people to take, or for things that you need.

This container, after you give it a good bath, using a little beach to disinfect, would be an excellent container for growing potatoes. If interested I suggest you start here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDio-zxHFCg there are plenty variations out there. This little container could easily produce 20 pounds of potatoes.

If no other solution pops up, put it out on trash day with a note on it if you want them to take the container.  I've done that in the past.

Empty it, clean it up and sit it by your sidewalk or in your driveway next to the street with a sign that says free and it will be gone before you know it.

we took ours to a local stray cat fundraising thrift store. It was sold before they got it in the door. Also Craigslist is wonderful

If nothing else works for you, you can always call your local city hall or administration office and they will help you find a place for it.

I would clean it up and put it in the corner of your garage to put scrap wood into or sports equipment or even long handled garden tools. Who has to say it needs to be used just for composting? Maybe you will change your mind later?

I guess my question wasn't specific enough. I know how to find a new home for a plastic bin but it's the CONTENTS I don't want and have no idea what to do with them since there's still a lot of uncomposted food in the bin.

Dump out the compost and let it sit in a corner of your yard for the summer to compost properly.  The composter you have kappears to contain compacted waste.  This doesn't allow for air circulation, so it isn't composting effectively.

Have you tried FreeCycle? Just post that you're offering half-finished compost. Somebody will answer. Go to freecycle.org. It's self explanatory.
