I cannot pass up a good deal on a used light fixture. Either it's got to become a planter or outdoor lighting with solar lamps. I love the planters and all it takes is an old fixture and some spray paint. Bright colors are great for their impact in our mostly green and white yard, but I'm willing to go with original colors, especially if there are patterns.
