Light up My Life With Some Magic!

This light was just not in keeping with the transformation I've be making of my room so it had to have an injection of life and colour.
I took the shade down and using glass paints painted the sections in bright colourfull stripes.
There was a raised rim between each section which I painted silver using a metallic gilting pen.
I had some lace trim from an old tablecloth, which I spray painted a metallic silver. I had tried gold but it just looked dull.
I attached the lace around the edges with a glue gun. Then put some some decorative mirrors on the painted section.
I had some plain glass droplets that I had saved from an old chandelier light. These I dipped into the glass paints then hung out to dry before attaching to the rim of the lace. Nice line of washing!
I added more coloured glass drops on the lace using the trusty glue gun.
Amazing how colourful it is now. And much more in tune with the room it is. I can'tell wait to see it when it'suits really dark. It should look magical.

SO Boho-chic! I love the amazing transformation! In the 1980s, when I was a 20-something living in the East Village (NYC), my entire tiny apartment looked like the portion of your room we can see in the pic. The very old building was a 6-story walk-up, my bathtub was in the middle of my kitchen, and each floor had it's own single lavatory which was shared (and cleaned) by all tenants. I often laugh when I try to picture today's 20-somethings leaving their apartment at 3am, trudging down the hallway to "go", only to find the bathroom occupied by Mr. Grimaldi from 6E! Lol! We were all broke, but creative, and became adept at making new things out of old, a skill I'm grateful to still possess. Thank you for sharing an amazing makeover and triggering a fun flashback!

Thank you for sharing your memories. It's true when making ends meet you delve deep into the creative energies. It aught to be a necessity for the young to experience some of the things we did. I'm even struggling to imagine the mayhem of only a call box on in the street instead of mobiles. Thanks again and keep creating.

OMG I just love what you did with scrap from others. I'm 83 now, but used to create beauty from junk!! Poor as a church mouse brings out the creative juices. Keep it up!!! It is beautiful.
