Broken Lantern

    You're going to have to replace that glass. I have no idea where you can start looking though.

    I'm known to repurpose. With that in mind, I would think a plain glass vase or (candle holder of sorts) could be found. I'd measure the base and top to insure the slant and size were correct, then use a glass cutter to take the solid bottom out of the new so the lantern would accept the piece and it could be used to replace the broken glass.

    bummer...my experience with glass is that any kind of repairs are temp at best...time to start searching on ebay and at the flea markets

    Thanks Guys. I was affraid of having to replace, could be near impossible. I would also keep repurpose in mind.

    Is that lamp a valuable antique? Depending on how valuable it is to you some glass company somewhere may be able to custom make that cracked piece for you. I would imagine that it would not be cheap unless you can find something that is the same diameter. And I am guessing that it has to be able to withstand some significant temperature when the lamp is lit. Good luck.

    Paul M, the lamp is not an antique. It has that appeal and i've grown attatched, It was not very costly. It appears that it will be cheaper to replace it rather than to restore it. Marta S, thanks for the info will keep in mind for future reference.
