We had to repair concrete pool deck because large roots from neighbors trees growing under the fence and cracked cement

over the years. Now that we removed the root that caused damage and replaced new concrete deck, I there something I can do to prevent this problem in the future if/when roots grow back? ie dig down along fence line and cut off or kill the roots making their way into my yard? The same trees are growing over the top of fence onto my side and creating mess in pool. I don't like to complain but is this my problem to take care of or can i expect him to do something about his trees?

Should I ask him to cut roots and or trim branches invading my side? He probably has no idea of the effects his trees are causing on my side.

Is there any reason to worry about those roots again in future?

Before your neighbor blames you for killing his tree- due to cutting roots get him involved, I am sure he will understand, explain to him the tree is causing you a lot of problem, show him the cost of the recent repairs, ask him to just take of the tree, trim etc.

Any of his tree that is cascading over your fence may be trimmed by you.

It would be a good idea, however, to discuss what you are planning to do before starting work. It's a good neighbor thing (unless you guys already hate eachother) Yamini is correct in saying that you may have unintentionally killed the tree. You'll know if starts to turn brown.
