Antiquing and Gilding a New Swedish Mora Clock

I have always loved antique Swedish Mora clocks but they are so expensive - not in my budget. Here's how I took a brand new white Mora clock and gilded and aged it to make it look much older - and more like an heirloom

Before - it was beautiful but too new looking!
I had to age the face of the clock as well - here's a during pic!

I love the lines of this Mora clock and would love to buy one. Where did you purchase it?

Hi Patricia...I know, they are a bit hard to find now. But, I went to a local furniture dealer nearby me and he had one (this was about 7 or 8 years ago). It was made by Howard Miller Company. Look at their website and see what they have - they may be making them again. I also recently saw a few painted Swedish Mora clocks (reproduction though) on either Joss and Main or One Kings Lane - so keep an eye on those sites. The real Swedish Mora clocks are very pricey...but if you really want one and have the money, do a search on Ebay or through Google. If I find anything - I will write again! Good luck - let me know your progress!!!

Hi - just found something you might like. I have a blogger friend - Amy from Maison DĂ©cor - and she is selling repro Mora clocks and she finishes them for you. If you want to paint your own, it may be cheaper. Here's the link - tell her I sent you! http://shopmaisondecor.com/collections/maison-decor-mora-clocks
