Come see what just a tiny bit of Metallic Cream can do for your next project! Carrie from Thirty Eighth Street used Belt Buckle to dry brush over this dresser in Cobblestone and the result is stunning!
Have you ever purchased a piece of second hand furniture and then waited for it to tell you what color it wanted to be?😉 That happens to us often over at Thirty Eighth Street. Sometimes, it can take longer to decide on a color then it can to re-finish the entire project. This little chest of drawers happened to be an exception. As soon as I saw this lovely vintage piece, it said, “Give me a nice weathered finish.” So I obliged!
Before I could start the painting process I needed to address some minor chips and peeling veneer in a few places. With a little bit of wood filler and some sand paper, the surfaces were as good as new.
To create this finish, I brushed on one coat of Country Chic Paint’s Cobblestone All-In-One Decor Paint. Once it was dry, I went back to certain areas of the piece and brushed it on a little heavier. This technique allowed the original dark finish to peak through in random areas and give it a nice natural distressed look without every having to go back and purposely distress the piece. After the 1 1/2 coats of paint were dry, I dipped a paint brush ever so lightly into some Belt Buckle metallic cream and wiped off the excess onto a paper towel. Then, dry brushed the metallic cream onto the chest using long strokes and light pressure. If I happened to get a little too much metallic cream in an area, I went back over it with some more Cobblestone. The combination of these two products gave this piece a really nice layered and rustic look!
Happy creating, Friends!
