Weeding Tips

I see so many great posts on Hometalk about raised garden beds. They are great, especially for an aging gardener. I don't see raised beds in my future right now but I do have a few weeding tips that will make weeding easier, and you won't have to kneel or squat.
This is the best gardening tool that I ever purchased. A pointed hoe. This one was a Martha Stewart hoe made for Kmart quite a few years ago.
First of all WEED OFTEN. Don't let weeds get a large root system. I encountered this little grass tuft in my garden today.
While standing I used my long handled tool to dig under the weed roots and all.
Here you see my weed tossed into the lawn, roots and all. No bending necessary.
Again a small weed because I weed often.
Dug out with the tool point roots and all.
A great buy! If you weed often it will only take about 10 minutes every three to four days!

I prefer hand-weeding too. Plus - long-handled tools make my back hurt worse! I know some people swear by hoes though. Whatever lets you get the work done in the way you enjoy the most, right?

My knees are not wht they used to be. If you get them early a hoe works great.
