I have fake grass and I love it, except in the summer it gets so hot. What can I do to keep it cooler for my dogs?

Never thought of this probelm, Well i dont think you can really make the lawn cooler, but adding a water feature, apergola and big fan may help cool the area a bit, another thing is to plant trees so as the lawn gets a bit of shade.

Debra, I also live in San Marcos and one of my neighbors just installed an (expensive) synthetic lawn. It does retain lots of heat. She sprays it down several times a day because she too has a small dog who hangs out in the back yard.

@Debra Reardon, as @Stephen B mentioned, you can spray down the turf with a hose or sprinkler if it gets too hot.
