Garden In Glass - Succulent Terrarium

The New Yorkies don’t have green thumbs. More specifically, mine are usually polished with Deborah Lippmann’s It’s Raining Men Red, and Gwyneth’s are black, furry and not opposable. And you may have noticed that if there’s a plant in our space, it’s of the permanent variety. Because plants come to our place to die. So you understand why gardening isn’t a topic we generally cover.
But that’s all about to change. Now that we’re getting settled in San Francisco and making our new apartment complete-with-its-own-tiny-courtyard feel like home, Gwyneth and I are getting our hands and paws dirty. Those of you who follow us on Instagram know that we’ve hit our local nursery and picked up a few potted plants as a start to beautifying our outdoor space. (More on our outdoor inspiration here.)
But before we get too advanced with the courtyard, we thought it might be smart to start with a small-scale garden that’s said to be virtually impossible to kill. We recently received a copy of Kat Geiger’s Terrariums Reimagined, and with its pages full of creative ideas and step-by-step instructions, we discovered that we had almost all of the supplies we needed to make and a pretty good shot at keeping a miniature garden in glass alive.
