What a great room. My bear-obsessed son would love this. -
how did you protect it from the chairs rubbing? -
Wow! I cannot imagine the work that went into this! If I worked that hard, I'm not sure I would want them walked on! You are braver than am I! -
It wouldn't fit into my decor, but it obviously was a LOT of work (and it shows!) and it's absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on your masterpiece! This is, however, a guide for the rest of us to do something like that. What medium did you use to paint it and then what did you use to seal it? Thanks for posting! -
Be so proud! This is beautiful! -
What a great floor and alot of work. -
Very unique...ties right in with the bear collection.....now all you need is goldy locks -
That is awesome! I think floors are often overlooked, and treated with the same old, same old, when they could be seen as a blank canvas and turned into a work of art such as this. Great job! -
This is crazy gorgeous. Love it!!! -
Quick run down to answer questions...you strip out finshed surface (carpet, tile...) back to original sub-floor. Clean and be sure it's flat, fix down 1/4" ply, sand over screws, fill holes and joints and prime with latex. The paint is inexpensive and simple...we went to Lowes and bought sample pots, had them mixed to colors needed, added black or white to give some shading etc...when finished you coat with polyurethane. Of course you need the little furniture pads on all furniture to ...» -
love all the detail you put into thisand would love to see it in a few years after some wear and tear -
Wow, you guys rocked this one! It's so beautiful and original! -
I love it! -
Who painted it? Can you share a little of the details?? Love it -
Way too cute! -
I'm so jealous. I'm just not artistic enough tjo do this, but I always wanted to attempt painting a rug. I have a floor in my "sunroom/bedroom, with awful old carpeting that has assorted throws on it, would LOVE to give this a try. How long did it take you in all, do you think? I'm just curious. It really is beautiful. -
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I love, love love this! What a way to live with your folk art! I have a question- you said 1/4 plywood over the subfloor. Was it 1/4 plywood or 1/4 inch luan? Did you use Valspar crystal clear for the poly? -
What a great idea! Make your home very unique and special to you. -
Kelly, he used ply and I am not sure which poly but I'll check on it. Karen, I'm not that artistic either, my husband is. It took him a couple of weeks but he wasn't working on it constantly, he has a job, the painting was what he did with ALL his spare time though. I absolutely adore the floor, it made me love the entire house more. Beverly , I came up with the idea and the husband with all the skill ran with it...out did my suggestions 100%...but then he always does! As far as waiting a ...» -
Floor may have been luan ply but it is ply, make sure it's good quality. Make sure the polyurethane is for floors, he used PRO Finisher. -
