What's a good use for and way to beautify this broken oven?

I have this old broken oven that I keep in the corner of my kitchen because I like the extra counter space. What's another way I can use it? Also how can I make it less if an eye sore?

you could paint it, cover it with fabric, or any covering of your choice and have an extra storage place. Take everything off of it and out of it and maybe put rollers on the bottom and use it where you need it at that moment? just a thought.

You could go to Home Depot or Lowes, buy a piece of plywood. Have them cut it for free, to size and box in the front or three sides. Paint the box a bright color with a can of spray paint. :)

Wish I could see a photo of how it's situated in your kitchen and not just a close-up. Lacking that perspective, you could remove the front panel, doors and inside heating coils. Replace oven racks with plywood shelves (any big box home improvement store would cut them to size for you.) Use fabric that coordinates with your kitchen to make a skirt/curtain for the front and use velcro tape to attach it. Use the inside to store bulky items or seldom-used cookware or appliances. (Or, like Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, use it to store sweaters--LOL.) If you want to go farther, clean it well inside and out, and paint it with a good spray paint for metal such as Rustoleum. You could create a faux butcher block top for it to cover the eyes of the stove (which I'm guessing it has.) Or perhaps snag a scrap of hard-surface countertop (corian, granite, etc.) to make a work surface. Good luck!

Shalom, Cara - I live in a rental apt. with a horrible stove. Like you, I like the counter space, so I bought 2 metal oven covers from Amazon.com (each one covers a front and back burner, and I use convection hot plates to cook with. I do think one piece of wood or marble would be better, if that is available to you. I cleaned out the oven and use the upper rack for my dish drainer and the lower rack for the dishpan and soap. With your stove, I'd probably just throw a tea towel or small tablecloth over the burners, and maybe touch up the paint. As a renter, I haven't the luxury of painting the whole thing with a pretty paint, but it's a great idea!

If you sew or have a friend that does....make a cozy to go around it, sort of a dust ruffle. Make it to match the kitchen decor. You could even make new curtains to co-ordinate???

I would remove doors and knobs, paint top or cover w/ lg floor tiles, cover front n sides w/ fabric ( open in front for storage accesse )using magnets or velcro tape to secure. Hope this helps.

Save the metal shelves if you replace them. Great base for a self-watering container at some point in your future. Or elevate them with sewing spools as an upright lid holder or as a platter or cookie sheet holder.

I see this and think of retro. I would paint it blue/yellow. keep the wires in place in the oven for storage and buy the painted covers for the top. this is a dream of mine.

If nothing else, I would make sure it was all one color so it doesn't look so chopped up. Personally I like a light, soft sage green, maybe with a white top, but any color that would compliment your kitchen colors. I wouldn't go dark because having a big, dark block with windows doesn't seem appealing. Retro colors would be good, too, pink or turquoise. If you want to redo the top, try four inch white tiles. It could look marvelous if you have the room for it, and love the storage space in the ovens - with racks, no less

Remove the top oven door. Paint the oven a color that will coordinate nicely with your kitchen. Find baskets, preferably with fabric liners will go with the color of the oven and your kitchen, and use these for storage inside both the top and bottom ovens. Hopefully you can find baskets that will allow you to use both racks in both ovens. I only suggested removing the top oven door because if you are using this to store large pots and things you might want the lower oven door in place to cover these up more. You could even paint the glass of the lower door for additional coverage and store only your more attractive pots/pans in the top oven. Or .... you could paint the glass of both ovens and maybe find an attractive decal or stencil to place in the middle of each for decoration. Placing a butcher board on top might also be more attractive and functional for you. I can't really tell what the top looks like from your picture. Hope these suggestions help. If extra counter space is all you really need and you'd really prefer to get the oven out of there, a lot of people use an ironing board in the kitchen for that purpose. That way you can folded up and put it away when you don't need it.
