Storage and beautification ideas for pedestal sink

I am remodeling my master bath on a tight budget and I'm trying to recycle as many items as possible but I'm stumped when it comes to storage and making it look nice around a pedestal sink. I dislike the pedestal sink very much but can't afford a cabinet and sink right now so any of your creative ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all have a great day.

I usually have some sort of lumber laying around, so here's what I would do.... measure the base of your sink, from wall to the very front. Say 18", go to a piece of plywood, drop a nail in, tie a string around it at 18", attach a pencil. Draw out a circle, cut it, find the center, cut it in half. Go back to your sink now measure the distance from the wall to the furthest point on the stool. Back to plywood, keeping the two halves together, draw out another circle to cut. Find a dowel for the front supports and small L brackets to mount on the wall and shelf you just built. Paint if you like prior to hanging, it'll save you time! Fabric laying around, i.e.; old curtain, bed sheet, scraps... attach Velcro strips to both the vessel and the fabric. Get creative! Good luck

I made a skirt around sink with opening in middle, attached with commercials stick-on velcro tape. We put stuff in plastic shoe boxes from the Dollar Tree, labeling each one.

Now see, I have a cabinet and I just think it is bulky and ugly (well, it's old, too). But, I am planning on redoing the powder room downstairs (which I also supply with everything I use in the normal b.r. so I don't have to run upstairs all the time) with a pedestal sink. Instead of putting the storage around the sink, I am adding cool corner shelves for storage and putting storage in the walls. So many things can be put in a mirrored-medicine cabinet and I always add an adjacent medicine cabinet on the 'other' smaller wall. It has a great added function of giving you better visibility when you need to see yourself from the rear. Simply open the side cabinet and use the big mirror to angle a rear view. Then so many things like cleaners and excess t.p., shampoos etc. can be stored in the linen closet, cuz, seriously, how often do they get used? William has an amazing array of cool ideas on his link. You mention you are on a budget, which is what makes Good Will and yard sales so fun. One day you may find just the right little shelf compartment that will fit next to the sink and you can basket your make-up and brushes etc...Take your time with those so you don't keep exchanging things and you can paint and decorate them to fit your pallet. In the meantime, those over the toilet thingies offer great extra storage and if you want to go crazy you can take your door off the hinges and hang it on a roller, filling in all the holes, of course, and maybe adding a diy frame for more width. After you do those things you can rest for a while, because if we're honest, it's time for a rest. Then small things that haven't found a home will surface and it will be easier to focus on them.

I absolutely would love a pedestal sink, I think they are classically beautiful. If yours is in the guest bathroom or powder room, you probably don't need a lot of storage but might consider floating shelves on one wall. You could attach wooden crates to the wall for storage of hand towels, etc. A small rolling cart could be modified to fit your room & used for storage. Best of luck.
