I just took the tour of all the pictures and they are all no less than spectacular. And I guarantee you they all cost huge money. Even if you build this first one pictured yourself, the stone and pavers are very costly. Rich folks have these back yards. My front yard is not close to this one back yard. I so wish I had it anyway.

I love the very first pic w the fire place! My question is....how do you mow the grassy sections with out breaking the tiles? Even if you used a weed eater it would still damage. So if the upkeep can be with minimal damage I will def consider doing this to my yard next summer!

I guess I should add, that you need to have your pavers, level or close to level with the dirt, NOT the grass you are cutting so the blade of your lawn mower does not hit them.

I have gravel paths terraced in my sloped back yard, Heavy rains have washed the gravel down to the bottom of the slope. How can I stop this from happening in the future, suggestions?

There is a lot of inspiration in these pictures and yes, these probably cost a fortune, but in each one there is an element that you can take from it and work now with what you have on hand, what you find on craigslist or get from family members/friends, and gradually transform an area from blah to beautiful in your own special way. All it takes is patience, vision, and good "treasure-hunting"!
