DIY Wood BBQ Caddy

It's BBQ and back porch sittin' time! Tis the season for grilling and getting together with friends. Do you find it difficult to keep all your BBQ stuff together? This is what our prior BBQ storage consisted of prior to the BBQ Caddy.
I know pretty pathetic , but maybe you can relate...I hope :-/. Now you can see why I wanted to make a caddy that keeps BBQ tools, spices and sauces all in one place.

This BBQ Caddy is made from:
1 - 1x10x6
1 - 1x4x6
1 wood dowel

Here are the cuts

.
Using the two ends cut an angled cut from each top corner.  I cut a 30 degree angle to leave 2 1/2 inches at the top and 5 1/8 inches for the sides.

The 1x4 makes the rest of the caddy.
Using a 1 inch forstner bit drill a hole approximately 1/4-1/2 inch deep the top end.  The hole left about 1/2 inch from the top.
Apply wood glue along the edge of two of the 1 x 4s.  Using a square to help with placement and clamps to hold in place, nail the two 1 x 4 ends to the 1 x 10 bottom.
Attach the ends and the dowel.  Place one of the 1 x 10 ends perpendicular to the middle section, glue and nail it together.  Then before attaching the other end double check measurement of the dowel. Put glue in the forstner drilled hole and glue the dowel in place on the end that is attached.  Finally glue the dowel in place on the final end piece and attach the end to the middle 1 x 4 section.
Next I stained it, added a fun stencil and then sanded the stencil to give it a rustic look.
After adding a few coats of sealer I attached a bottle open...to prevent dehydration on those HOT summer days!
I hope this helps with your BBQ tools and sauces organization.

Happy building,
Tiffany
