OHHHHH Frances - I am sooo loving this!! The way the pictures curve around the bowling ball gives the illusion of looking into a"snow" globe -sort of/ I think the curvature gives a slight distortion - but in a really good way!. Don't know if that makes any sense to you or not but the effect is really neat!!

Did you piece the pictures of flowers, etc together to form the picture or is it just one big picture? It is really pretty!!

I pieced together pictures, mainly from my magazines. Veranda is the best magazine to decoupage with....

I think it's the English Garden - Thomas Kinkade type of look that is sooo appealing! Can't quite put my finger on it but it sure is an eye catcher!!!

I have a couple of those that I picked up thrift stores for the garden. I painted and stenciled mine. I love the gazing balls but they are so fragile.. these are perfect for that with a little imagination.. yours is beautiful!

This is definitely thinking "outside of the box." I'll need to approach my local bowling alley for a bowl that they wouldn't mind discarding.

Ilene D - that's exactly what I was thinking about doing. Surely they must have damaged or old ones, somewhere. Others have suggested Good Will and thrift shops too! Oh, and the ever present yard sales, don't forget about them!!

Love this - great job - people must think it is a reflecting ball and look around, then wonder if their eyes are decieving them -- LOL

I once saw a picture of a bowling ball that had been cut in half and decorated as a lady bug. It looked really cute in the garden area but your idea is so much more decorative and lovely. Great job!

Bowling balls make great decorations and are heavy enough to not blow away and break! Nice job!

I purchased a couple of bowling balls the other day from a thrift store, and can't wait to do something with them.

When I first looked at yours I thought it was a mirror of some sort.

If anyone lives in Greensboro, NC on Burning Tree, I could tell them approximately where I buried my 16 lb. bowling ball when I got a new, lighter one. LOL
