My Little Slice of Mailbox Heaven

When we bought our new house last year, I knew the mailbox had to go . I don’t have a photo of the box that must have been as old as the house, but for those of you with young children or Disney aficionados I shall describe it as the Towmater Mailbox — I’m sure you get my meaning.
So one year later and two mailboxes ago (I immediately replaced the box last year, but our neighbor mowed it down during a winter snow storm), I think my little patch of mailbox heaven is on its way. I love cottage gardens, so I was hoping for a similar feel in this 5 x 4 foot slice of dirt between concrete sidewalks and driveways. It also had to be pretty and pretty deer resistant.
With a little catmint, coneflowers, clematis, two type of lamb’s ear, coreopsis and a few other things I’m not familiar with, I hope my dear little garden grows and grows well. It is planted pretty tight and a few things may have to find a new home next year but I think that’s a good problem to have, because this little patch of earth makes taking the bills to the mailbox just a little less painful.
