Replacement windows are helping to keep older homes more energy efficient.

With low E glass and argon gas, replacement windows pay for themselves in energy savings.

I agree this is one of the better upgrades to older homes. Many home owners remodel a room. But the cost savings in power would make it a better upgrade in the long term.

Absolutely. Also, to ensure maximum energy savings, find an installer who properly and COMPLETELY seals the windows. Don't necessarily go for the lowest bid. Again, you will make back the investment in energy bill savings.

I have seen energy audit results where a drafty window frame was leaking so much air that the window might as well have been left open.
