Hi hometalkers! I want to put up some mosaic tiling over this low concrete wall on my porch. How much paint needs to be removed? Can i just scrape everything thats peeling or do i need to actually strip away ALL the layers of paint? There are some pretty old layers here. thanks!

In order for the tile to stick I would remove all the paint. Just my opinion.

Yes . Citristrip is a non hazard paint remover. It is available at Home Depot in the paint dept.

Yes, Janet is right! The paint needs to be removed and Citristrip would be the best product to use. Paint is a bond breaker. Tiling over a painted concrete bonds the tile to the paint and not the concrete. Would not last long.

Get the max off and then rough it over with a wire brush...

Do you mean just get as much of it off as i can? I've just bought the paint remover and I'm excited to get started!
