well now, just wait until winter hits and I'm sure you'll learn a few more things about what we do up here in the north during our frigid, snowy, icy weather and how I get snowbound sometimes. yes....I have to gear up from head to toe with only my face showing just to walk out to the wood shed so I can keep feeding that (bleeping) woodstove every hour, and oh while I'm at it go down to the barn and make sure the chickens have feed and water, and oh and the dogs have to go out again!

what?!?!! hubby won't be home for another 24+ hrs because the snow won't stop coming down and he plows during the winter months? oh yes, the answer is, yes I DO have seasonal affective disorder :S and use an OTT lite for something similar to sunshine during the day :D
You say hubby plows during the winter month...........are you saying he clears the roads of snow or are you on a farm? While we have sunshine during the winter months, I can understand the mood associated w/the absence of sunlight for prolonged periods of time, as we've had some summer weeks like that. Most of us in Fla. look forward to winter as it translates to: playing tennis without risk of heat exhaustion; retarded weed growth, almost to the point of no weeds; trimming the shrubs

only once during 3 months; mowing 1ce a month, and many travel to snow ski. When we had our ski boat, the only months we didn't water ski were Dec., Jan. and Feb., so we didn't miss water skiing too badly. There have been a few totally frigid winters where we endured rolling black outs, since almost everyone here heats w/electricity. Several of my friends ruined their Thanksgiving turkeys during those rolling blackouts. Now, while others are entertaining thoughts of autumn, parts of our state are bracing for a hurricane while the rest of us brace for very strong wind gusts and more inches of unwanted rainfall. No doubt our aquifer is full by now!! Funny, we're on water restrictions all the time until we have as many inches of rainfall as we've had over the past 3 months. THEN, they tell us we can water (when we don't need it). It's so wet out there, in some areas the ground squishes when stepped on, others have standing water in their yards, if not floods; I sneeze everytime I'm outside; the molds are growing. We've gone from sod web worms to chinch bugs, and now fungus (we just spayed the lawn yesterday)! No, I'd say the Floridians' challenge is surviving the summer (as opposed to surviving the winter) with our minds still intact.
well now, we all have our seasonal challenges don't we !! sheeesh. I haven't been here on HT during the winter so this should be interesting :) We learn so much from each other :)
Indeed we do!! We learn what others do to creatively express themselves and when they do it. Having an understanding of their weather conditions explains "spurts" of creativity......I think. 8-) So, I'm really looking forward to seeing a lot of new ideas and creations from all you Yankees this winter. LOL
Marg C, I truly sympathize with you re: seasonal challenges (especially winter weather which sometimes starts in fall in the North). You won't hear me complaining about Florida as I lived in Pennsylvania & even colder Wisconsin.
Wow I had no idea how much trouble Floridians had during the summer months other than the Hurricanes. Maybe you all should summer up here ya think? LOL Now what would we call you? We all are snowbirds when we head your way....hmmm.....
Ah yes! That's a good one Becky. You'll have your own theme song too. Our gardens are all a work in progress since we're adding little by little. Not sure I'm ready to share on this big group. I'll think about it. Okay, it's only fair. I'll share tomorrow. I'm about ready to head to bed as soon as I get through all my notices. We had a rough day on the water and it's all your fault! ;^) We forgot the plug! 8^{
Nope, no drowning but one of us wound up completely under water. When hubby got off the jet ski just a foot further from the beach then where he got on before heading to get the plug there was a drop off and he fell completely under! I was afraid he'd have hit his head on the side of our boat, but he was okay. Just very wet! Luckily he had a pair of dry boxer briefs in the back of his vehicle to have something dry to drive home in. Good think we didn't get stopped. I'll explain that

before you ask. He umpires for fun, so he carries extra under garments because they get soaked with sweat while during the summer.
I know you well enough that I was sure you'd have some pretty crazy ideas of why he carried extra pairs of underwear in his vehicle. Although it may have been more fun to see what ideas you did come up with.
You're gardens are gorgeous by the way Becky.
