Turn a stool into a side table. In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to turn an iron chain stool into a modern side table with a concrete table top. This is an inexpensive solution for outdoor decor and it gives new life to an older piece of furniture. You can never have enough places to set drinks in the Summer and Spring months during those fabulous BBQs.
This was my first time working with concrete, and I've got to tell you it is absolutely addictive! For as little as $5 a bag you can in essence create anything you can think of using a plastic or vinyl mold. So I encourage you to give this a shot. In the beginning it may seem intimidating but once you get over the fear it will sure be your favorite DIY medium.

I started with an Iron chain stool I bought a while ago from TJMaxx.
Using Quickset concrete mix, a plant saucer and a bucket I was able to get started. I used the saucer as a mold. Great and inexpensive solution.
Oh and gloves are highly recommended.
Spray the saucer with WD-40 before beginning. The plant saucer had a decorative design of a sun.
Allow the concrete 24 hours to set before removing from the planter mold
I painted the concrete using spray paint primer and concrete paint.
Ready for that drink now.
