Change

Have you ever finished a project, then looked at it and decided that you really hated it? I did that yesterday. The more I looked at my birdfeeder flower project the more I hated it. I thought about it all night. This morning I finally figured out what to do. Here is my new and improved Flower Totem. I'm much happier now, lol

You know I really like this unpainted. I just finished a very patriotic one for July 4th!

Sometimes less is more. Because of the garden seat at the base, I did not want to add any more color. My next one is going to have a milk can base and the pots will be painted white with black "cow spots" on it and the top pot will be shaped like a honey pot

we have the same tower in our back yard. such a conservation piece, too. we change the flowers out every year. our neighbor loves to come look at our back yard every year to see what we have done/added so she can get ideas (or 'steal' ours) for her yard as well.

I think that this would look really nice sitting on a stepping stone or cement slab. It really doesn't need the other planter base to look nice. Perhaps, even placing this in the center of a flower bed with pansies or petunias surronding it.

Judy, you do realize that rebar is what is holding everything together???? In order to have a stepping stone or cement slab you would have to carefully drill the concrete. This is why I used a concrete circle, which holds the chinese garden seat in place, plus gives it protection from the the lawnmower. The idea of doing this in this particular place was to add flowers in the middle of the yard and still allow my hubby to use the lawnmower. If I were to plant pansies or petunias, we ...»
would have more work to do. We try our level best not to use a weed eater. Can't wait to see yours! Be sure to post photos

I am new to gardening. I apologize to you. I wasn't trying to say that this doesn't look nice.

My only reason for using this website is to learn. Evidentally, I made a huge mistake. It will not happen again.

Judy, we all want to learn, which is why I pointed out why the rebar was there and why a stepping stone would not work. I actually thought about a stepping stone to set the chinese garden seat on until my hubby pointed out that there was a possibility that it could crack if he drilled it. By using the concrete ring to set the seat on we solved the problem. Lighten up and enjoy! Thats what HomeTalk is all about
