I haven't done this myself but I'm considering it...i'm not sure I like the color options they have but I've heard positive things about it.

This may sound weird but it works for me. I covered my ugly countertops with scrapbooking paper! I did the ones in my kitchen and small bathroom. They look beautiful (I have pics but I can't seem to figure out how to get them from the camera phone into the computer) and it only cost me $9.00 for the paper. After decoupaging the paper on with Mod Podge I used a Poly acrylic sealer (10 coats) and finished with a food safe sealer (2 coats). I also caulked around the sink. It took less than a day to do the kitchen. Once the paper is down you have to wait for each coat to dry before putting on the next coat but I did other projects in between. I use trivets for hot items touching the counter now because I am not sure if the sealer will melt. I also avoid harsh chemicals for cleaning like Comet. I put the paper right over the old Formica but I deglossed it with TSP first, did a light sanding and painted the top to match the paper in case any seams showed through. I chose this method because it was fast, cheap, I could do it myself and there is an endless array of beautiful scrap book paper out there. Good luck on what ever you do! Changing the counter top can make a real difference in a kitchen.

I have a friend who marbleized her countertops with epoxy, and they look fabulous. I am thinking of using blackboard paint, as my kitchen has white cabinets with black appliances, and I think the black counter tops will really pop. They look like slate when finished, and I have heard they hold up well.
