Exterior doors on mobile home

I have a very old mobile home and the exterior doors do not close tight. you have to push the bottom of the door in before you can close it, even then doesn't close tight. They are short and narrow (not standard) I can't afford special order doors. Was wondering.if I could spray that spray foam insulation in the door to strenghten it?

I would check for "plumb" first. most door issues start with loose hinge screws that allow the door to hang crooked. resetting the hinges with some beefy longer screws often fixes some of these problems.

Thanks, KMS Woodworks, but it must be the insulation inside because about an eight of the bottom of the door just bends out. this is a thin metal door for a mobile home. The bottom is almost flimsy..I bought this trailer after I had a house fire and needed a place fast because I had a daughter with a terminal condition. I really think the place was "mistreated an neglected" but my main concern was my daughter at the time. I checked with " used trailer parts" place and was told that trailer doors are the first to go

Have you inspected the "reveal" all the way around the door? The reveal is the gap between the door and the jamb. The gap should be uniform all the way around. If it is narrower along the lower strike side this can be an indication that the upper hinges are loose.

Have you checked at salvage yards for doors off of older mobile homes?

Yes, Terese C, The salvage yards and used mobile home parts businesses say mobile home doors are the first to go and are not reusable. So they never have trailer doors. The storm doors were completely gone also, but I just bought taller wooden screen doors for that(doesn't look too bad..lol). My doors seem like they have lost the firmness at the bottom the of the door, you can wiggle the bottom part of the door back and forth with your hands but not the top part

My son completely rebuilt the trailer he and his first wife had. He did a beautiful job! When it came to the exterior doors we got stumped. Then we got smart! We drove around the area a bit and found 2 mobile home parks and 4 abandoned trailers. We found the owners and ended up buying doors from them, along with windows, and exterior trim. I do remember we reinforced both doors (this took some time). My son and I laboriously removed the front and back facings of the doors and rebuilt the insides using high grade plywood and Styrofoam insulation sheets. Once back together you couldn't tell them from new doors! They hung straight and true and shut solid.Good luck and let me know if this works for you!

I have same problem with doors I have noticed that the hinge is missing some plastic or rubber gaskets or washers
