Our courtyard in bloom

We've been working on the courtyard for 5 long years, doing a little as finances allow. This year I think we have finally finished. We will only have to plant a few annuals next year for color

A fountain offers soothing sounds to our courtyard. You probably can't see the cute little spitting turtle hiding in the flowerpot beside the fountain, but...

Awesome, Debi! I could sleep on that plush bench cushion! Love the hollowed out log with the planting. We added a fire pit to our yard this year but not as nice looking as yours!

Thank you all for the warm comments. Our courtyard is a hodge podge of re-purposed items. The state has been moving houses and claiming highway frontage, so I've been gathering left over bricks, stones, rocks and lots of flowers from up and down the road. The biggest expenses we incurred was the paver blocks, the electrical, a few decorative items and some labor costs. I designed the lay out, but needed help with all of the digging, placing etc. We found the swing on sale 50% off last ...»
fall, the cushion was re-purposed from a wicker chair that was broken. The cast iron furniture was given to me when a friend downsized from a large home to a tiny apt. I truly enjoy taking nothing and making something special out of it, which is why I adore HomeTalk. So many ideas just jump right out at me.

What nice, and beautiful garden. I LOVE IT!!! Love your white metal seating, log filled with plants, stone fire pit, LAURA (pig), white tall metal plant holder under the magnolia tree, mushroom, swing, OMG!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!

Leida, the "metal plant holder" is actually quite a find from a flea market. It is a Victorian Coat Rack made of solid cast iron. It was missing some hooks so the purchase price was one I could afford. LOL, and it weighs a ton. My hubby swears everything I pick out is HEAVY....just like the cast iron seating

Karen, The fire pit was re-purposed from the trash outside of the now defunct Eckerd's Drug. ...»

When they sold out there was a lot of display stuff that they trashed. It sat in my yard for a year and then one day I was at Lowe's and they had a display using castle rocks as a fire pit, so I borrowed their idea, simply surrounding my "find" with the castle blocks, one layer at a time as I could afford them.

Trish & Ellen, thank you so much. This project has been one of the most enjoyable because it has created a welcoming entry to our home.

My favorite thing is EVERYTHING! Looks like a great setting for a large group to enjoy as well as a cozy small one! Great job. (PS...is that wood stacked close to the house? We were always cautioned not to because it attracts termites...?? Just a thought!)
