Chandelier Herb Planter

1) I bought this wonderful chandelier for a house we didn't buy. Seeing the planters posted on here (http://www.hometalk.com/diy/upcycle/diy-chandelier-planter-1627032 ), it seemed like the perfect thing to do with this gorgeous item.
2) It was a bit rusty, so a coat of Krylon Rusty Metal Primer was in order. Then I found these little planters (4/$1 at Dollar Tree) and set it up on my (in progress) table to see how they fit.
3) I really lik)e the color of the primer... Wasn't sure what color to paint it, so that will wait. I'm thinking about just painting the ribbons. Decisions decisions.
But I liked the way the planters tilted over the course of the day. I used shower surrond glue thinking it would stick well to the plastic pots. Wrong.
4) And here it is. German thyme and Oregano. It's hard to keep the water in the pots because of the angle. Have to work on that. I did put those little water-holding beads from DT in the bottom of the pot. I forget to water stuff!
This project will have to be re-worked because of the glue. I'll probably paint the ribbons a nice dark coral or maybe moss green. Eventually. Maybe. The one thing that I'll definitely have to figure out is how to get water into the pots, and keep it there! It just pours off, because of the angle. I'm thinking maybe a straw in the top to pour the water into. A tiny funnel would be better, but doubt there is such a thing. Any ideas about that?

Since the glue didn't hold the pots, more than likely I'll set them upright, even though I like the tilted look better. Sometimes one must go for function over fashion. ;-)

@Michelle W I did learn one thing: make the dirt in the pots level as they hang, not level with the top of the pot as if they were standing straight. Otherwise, the water will all run out! Glad you liked it. :-)
