Have an old summer home built around 1940.

All the plumbing runs in a crawl space needs to be replaced. Is pex plumbing suitable and can a handyman do it himself?

Pex piping is the easiest pipe to run. And with the quick push connections no glue is need. But it's very costly due to the brass fittings that are use.

PEX is easy to install, requiring few connections or special tools, a handy homeowner could tackle the installation

PEX is a good choice for a crawl space. The tubes are easily fed into confined places. . PEX is affordable compared to copper and provides better insulating qualities than copper and doesn't corrode

PEX plumbing lines and connections are the handyman's newest best friend. They say that the lines have a very high tolerance to freezing, which is great for a summer home that may be vacant during the winter months. Ask the salesperson at the plumbing store about a different version of PEX for heat pipes, I believe the version exists. The hand tool that is necessary to clamp two connections together is expensive but chances are you will use it again and again. Enjoy the summer.
