A Footboard Upside Down

Marcela Pena
by Marcela Pena
I had used the headboard of this set for a bed, and the footboard remained useless. But it looked nice, so I tried to figure out a new use for it. I put it upside down and a good idea came up...
This is the original footboard I had.
I cut the upper bars...
Used the original paint but distressed...
Prepared a piece of wood that I would use as a shelf
painted it white and fixed it where I had cut the bars.
Decoupaged flowers and added hooks to hang cups.
Hand wrote "Vintage kitchen
and added a thin piece of wood at the top in order to act as an edge of the saucers I want to place at the top. I guess you don´t see the sense of all this, but you will understand now, when you see the piece finished!
Added this hanging notice board painted on both sides, kitchen open or closed!

What kind of hooks did you hang the bed with, it would take a lot to hold it up with dishes. I made one but dont know how to hang it!

I simply love this. It is actually something that I think I could do. I just love the way it looks and the way it displays your cups and saucers. Maybe one day I will be able to do this. I sure wish I had it though. I guess I’m selfish that way!
